marrying someone who’s rich won’t make you happy, it will make you rich and happy
putthegeniebasson asked: I'm really interested to hear your opinion on why ballet is not a sport. Would you elaborate? :)
Last time I spoke about this with passion, some psycho anon began harassing me so I’ll keep it short:
Ballet is not a sport because it’s an art form. In sports, you are usually competing or trying to “win” something. Sure, there are ballet competitions (pls don’t ask me to elaborate on my feelings about this bc I will get bitchy) but ballet in its purest, most sincere form is an art and an art alone. Maybe it takes an extreme amount of athleticism, but it is an art, no less. When you run on stage as Aurora in a full length production, you are not trying to beat anyone at anything. You’re just trying to feel what a sixteen year old princess at her sweet sixteen looking for her prince would feel. When you jump into your Romeo’s arms or violently try to shake the life back into his lifeless body, you aren’t trying to compete with anyone. You are just living in that moment. You are an artist. There is no, and never could be, any sport in something like that because you can’t put a number on artistry.
